About This Program

Alice Roberts travels to Bamburgh, Northumberland, to learn about the generations of Anglo Saxons who lived and worked there, gaining an insight into the illnesses they suffered and the societies in which they lived. She visits the Sutton Hoo site, as well as a pioneering project in Sittingbourne, Kent, which was set up following the unearthing of an Anglo Saxon cemetery, and looks at the Staffordshire hoard discovered by a metal detector in 2009
