In this episode a farmer realises there’s a leak on his property and brings in a few men to sort it out. The workers set about fixing the problem, and once they’re finished they head back home. The repair is quick, and the water soon fills the trough. With the repair crew gone, the farmer’s flock discovers the water and begins to play in it, turning the area into a lively scene. The animals’ delighted chatter echoes across the fields, and the short story follows the simple sequence of the farmer’s discovery, the hired men’s repair work, and the flock’s spontaneous enjoyment of the water after the men have left.

The farmer is looking forward to annual dog show, confident that his dog Blitzer stands a chance of taking the prize this year. He’s been polishing the dog’s coat, practising routines and chatting with neighbours about the contest, and he’s spent weeks preparing, certain the competition will go his way.
