Religious fanatic Steven Mullan is found beaten and drowned in his bath. Lewis and Hathaway discover he had been imprisoned for trying to kill well-known atheist Tom Rattan and had only recently been released. The inspector soon has reason to believe the Rattan family is hiding something from him - but nothing prepares him for the evidence Dr Hobson uncovers at the post-mortem.
