Newly promoted Captain Horatio Hornblower sets out to make his mark on the world, and soon manages to capture his first enemy vessel - only to discover a peace treaty has been signed, leaving him down and out, with barely a penny to his name. Fate seems to smile on the ambitious seafarer though, when he discovers the villainous Bonaparte has reneged on the treaty.
