About This Program
In October 1973, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir initially refuses to act on intelligence that suggests Egypt and Syria intend to launch a co-ordinated military offensive against Israel. Eventually the attacks begin, catching Minister of Defence Moshe Dayan off guard. Meir refuses to accept his resignation and a weakened Dayan leads the Israeli response, which requires Meir to request air support from US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.
