Is EastEnders on tonight?
Yes. EastEnders is on BBC One at 7.30pm tonight. Johnny's attempting to defuse a situation that's getting increasingly out of hand, Penny's wrestling with a decision that could change the direction of her life, and Denzel hatches a plan to give Patrick a boost. Standard Tuesday Walford business -- nothing seismic, but the character beats are solid.
TV Guide: Early Evening (7pm -- 8pm)
EastEnders -- BBC One, 7.30pm
Half an hour in Albert Square with the usual mix of domestic tension and quiet scheming. Johnny's in peacemaker mode, Penny's got a big call to make, and Denzel's looking out for Patrick in his own way. It's a table-setting episode, the kind that EastEnders does well when it's not in full anniversary chaos mode.
Great British Menu -- BBC Two, 7pm
The big premiere of the evening. Great British Menu returns for its 21st series with a cracking new set-up: the show's relocated to a new studio in Stratford-upon-Avon, comedian Phil Wang has replaced Ed Gamble on the judging panel alongside Tom Kerridge and Lorna McNee, and the overarching theme this year is the British film industry. Tonight's opener sees four chefs competing for north west England with canapes, starters and fish courses. Andi Oliver returns as host, and the whole thing feels refreshed without losing what makes it tick.
The Martin Lewis Money Show Live -- ITV1, 7.15pm
Martin Lewis at his most essential. With an energy price cap announcement imminent, he's arming viewers with everything they need to know and grilling the chief executive of Ofgem live on air. If your energy bills are a source of anxiety -- and whose aren't -- this is required viewing.
TV Tonight: Prime Time (8pm onwards)
MasterChef: The Professionals -- BBC One, 8pm
The current series rolls on with 2022 champion Nikita Pathakji setting the standard. She challenges a fresh batch of professional chefs to recreate her dish of king prawns in a coconut and lemongrass broth, which is the sort of benchmark that separates the confident cooks from the ones who crumble under pressure. Matt Tebbutt continues to settle in alongside Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, and the new Birmingham studio is growing on me.
Digging for Britain -- BBC Two, 8pm
Alice Roberts heads south for this week's archaeological adventure, and there are some properly significant finds. The headline is the earliest money ever made in Britain, which is the kind of discovery that rewrites timelines. There's also a massive haul of Roman treasure that illuminates the end of the empire in this country. If you've ever wondered what Britain looked like as the Romans packed up and left, this is your episode.
Dirty Business -- Channel 4, 9pm ⭐
This is the one to watch tonight. The second episode of Channel 4's factual drama about Britain's water pollution scandal, and it's absolutely furious television. David Thewlis plays Ash, a former police detective in a small Oxfordshire village who noticed the fish in his local river were dying and started asking questions. Jason Watkins is his neighbour Peter, and together they've become unlikely investigators into something far bigger than a dead fish. The series is made by the same team behind Partygate, and it has that same ability to take a dry-sounding scandal and turn it into drama that genuinely makes your blood boil. Based entirely on real events, real people, and real criminal convictions. Asim Chaudhry and Bafta Rising Star Posy Sterling round out a strong cast.
Silent Witness -- BBC One, 9pm
Episode 8 of 10, and the stakes are personal this time. Jack's in serious danger, and the Bowman team are working flat out to get him out of it. The series has been a solid run, and when Silent Witness puts its regulars in peril it tends to find another gear. Emilia Fox anchors the tension as always. Contains strong language and some upsetting scenes, which for Silent Witness usually means they're not messing about.
The Summit -- ITV1, 9pm
Ben Shephard's reality adventure continues as the group pushes further up the New Zealand mountain with that potential two hundred thousand pound prize fund on their backs -- literally, since each contestant carries their share in their rucksack. Tonight brings a dramatic twist courtesy of the mysterious Mountain's Keeper, which forces one member to make a heartbreaking decision. The format is still finding its rhythm, but the mountain setting is stunning and the elimination mechanics are genuinely tense.
Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild -- Channel 5, 9pm
Ben meets a woman in the USA who's on a perpetual walk across the country. Not a sponsored trek or a charity stunt -- she just walks, endlessly, and Ben wants to understand why. It's the kind of subject that New Lives in the Wild handles beautifully, peeling back the surface to find what set someone on such a radical path. The harsh realities of life on the road make for compelling viewing.
BlackBerry -- Film4, 9pm
A proper treat if you haven't seen it. Matt Johnson's 2023 film about the rise and fall of the BlackBerry phone is one of the best tech dramas in years, and it's on terrestrial TV tonight. Glenn Howerton -- yes, Dennis from It's Always Sunny -- is extraordinary as the ruthlessly aggressive co-CEO who muscles in on the company, while Jay Baruchel plays the nerdy inventor who built the thing in the first place. It's funny, it's frantic, and it captures that specific flavour of corporate arrogance that destroys perfectly good ideas. Howerton alone makes it worth your evening.
TV Guide UK: Late Night
The Curfew -- Channel 5, 10pm
Episode 5 of 6 in this dystopian thriller starring Sarah Parish, and the walls are closing in. New evidence suggests the killer is a woman, which throws the entire investigation sideways. Sarah's character is released on tag but promptly gives the police the slip, and Pamela realises that Cass is in danger. It's racing towards its conclusion and not slowing down.
QI -- BBC Two, 10pm
Sandi Toksvig takes the show voyaging, with Nabil Abdulrashid, Joe Lycett, Lou Sanders and Alan Davies along for the ride. Joe Lycett on QI is usually reliable for at least one moment of genuine chaos, and Lou Sanders tends to go in unexpected directions. A solid late-night palate cleanser.
Gogglebox -- Channel 4, 10.05pm
The armchair critics tackle Black Mirror, Gladiators, The Apprentice, Britain's Got Talent, The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer and Casualty. The usual format, the usual charm.

Dirty Business on Channel 4 at 9pm is our pick of the night -- David Thewlis and Jason Watkins are outstanding in a factual drama that takes the water pollution scandal and turns it into television that genuinely makes you angry. It's the kind of programme Channel 4 does best: confrontational, important, and impossible to ignore.
